Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says the Hoops aren’t resting on their laurels as they close in on the Scottish Premiership title and are scouring the transfer market for new recruits this summer, reports Sky Sports.

The Bhoys could go 13 points clear with a win over Hamilton Academicals this afternoon, but they also have eyes on new players to aid them in their pursuit of another league crown next season.

Rodgers said:

“Yeah (we are now looking at recruitment). You have to plan forward. Every club is doing that. We’ve been doing it for a period of time now.

“Myself, Peter Lawwell and Lee Congerton have sat down and had our local and international scouts here to make sure we’re focused in on what we’re looking for in the summer.”

One player being closely linked is Werder Bremen striker Lennart Thy. The 26-year-old is on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo this season and has scored and created 12 goals in 29 league games.

He’s believed to be on Celtic’s shortlist with his future uncertain at the Weser-Stadion. Thy re-joined Bremen from FC St. Pauli in 2016 after being sold to the German outfit four years earlier. However, he’s made just six league appearances and has spent more time loaned out to other clubs.

And with his deal expiring next year, Bremen might decide to cash in on Thy rather than risk losing him for free in 18 months. If Celtic are interested, the news about Thy will be music to their ears as negations should be smoother considering the situation.

Rodgers is keeping coy, however, adding:

“If there was (interest in Lennart Thy) I still wouldn’t tell you. There is so much speculation around, and players I haven’t even heard of sometimes. I think the game has already started linking players with clubs.

“There is always speculation and that one, probably, is one of many.”
