Brendan Rodgers has told the Daily Record that Tom Rogic has looked great in Celtic training recently.

Rogic has been out for two months with a knee injury, but has returned to training recently and looked sharp in training.

And the Hoops boss has suggested that the Australian international could now return to his side’s first-team sooner rather than later.

He said:

“Tom looks great in training and it’s just getting him some game time.”

Celtic’s next fixture comes against Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League, and if Rogic is brought into Celtic’s first-team he will be thrown right back in at the deep end.

The Russian side will pose a though challenge for Celtic, who are determined to progress as far as they can reach in the Europa League this season.

The Scottish champions managed to finish third in their Champions League group stage, to ensure they were playing European football in 2018.

And the Bhoys manager insists that his side will be doing everything in their power to go as far as they can in the competition.

Rodgers said:

“We have a lot of players missing with injuries, but it’s two really exciting games for us and the first leg here on Thursday should be a fantastic game.”

“We’ll get ready for that over the next few days and look forward to it.

“This was the aim right from the start of this season, the next step for this group.

“We’ve qualified for this phase and now we want to maximise where we can go in this competition.”

Brendan Rodgers’ men head into their match against Zenit on the back of a victory, having beaten Partick Thistle 3-2 in their last match.
