AC Milan are reportedly set to offer Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge an escape route from Anfield as the striker seeks more playing time, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet claim that the England international is to tell the Reds he wants a move from the club in the January window, and the San Siro giants are ready to move for the former Chelsea striker.

However, the Mirror report that the San Siro outfits could have trouble in convincing Sturridge to their side, with other Italian clubs interested and the Rossoneri looks to be in financial difficulty.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly not interested in letting the Englishman leave the club, but would not block a move away if he pushed for one. Sturridge is said to retain hopes of making England’s World Cup squad for Russia, and is considering a move away from Liverpool to help him fulfill that.

He has struggled force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans this season, despite seemingly overcoming his recent injury problems. The striker has netted three times in 12 appearances for Liverpool this year, but only four of those appearances have been starts.

Daniel Sturridge exit good move for Liverpool?

It looks surprising that Liverpool do not want to lose Sturridge, as he offers the team a genuine goal threat off the bench.

However, they will not want to get in the way of his World Cup ambitions, and may in turn sanction a move away from Anfield, whether on loan or permanently.

To avoid strengthening a Premier League rival, a sale to AC Milan would seem to be a pretty good option for the Reds.

Daniel Sturridge to AC Milan likely to happen?

The 28-year-old England international’s preferred destination is unknown, and Milan looks to be an ideal destination, although the Serie A’s recent financial problems may be a barrier to any move.

On the other hand, the Liverpool striker will surely stand more of a chance making the England squad for 2018 World Cup if he stayed in the Premier League.

Sturridge knows the league well, and knows perfectly well on how to score goals in the league. A move abroad represents a lot of risks, and he may therefore decided against it.
