Thomas Christiansen’s Leeds United are expected to field a heavily different line-up to face Premier League giants Burnley in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, but the Whites can still get a result against Sean Dyche’s side.

Leeds priority this season is the Championship but the distraction of the EFL Cup comes at a good time, after the first defeat of the season to Millwall on Saturday.

The Whites are still sitting top of the league, however, and a good performance against Premier League opposition would be the perfect ideal before their next Championship against Ipswich at Elland Road on Saturday.

It’s also a great opportunity to give some players down the pecking order chances of first-team football.

Sean Dyche has already confirmed that he’s planning on rotating his line-up, although former Leeds player Charlie Taylor could start feature after being dropped from the past two matchday squads.

For Leeds, Pontus Jansson has been ruled out of the squad after he bagged an injury against Millwall, but the Leeds boss has said it’s not serious and he could be back for the Saturday fixture against Burnley.

Matthew Pennington should be available though, after he injured himself against Bolton in the opening weekend of the season and he should be back to starting XI today.

Leeds’ No. 1 Feliz Wiedwald is expected to be rested giving Andy Lonergan the chance to start between the sticks to make his first appearances for the club since 2011.

At the other end, Pierre-Michel Lasogga should also be rested to give Jay-Roy Grot his first start in a Leeds shirt.

Grot had three cameo appearances so far and this will be the opportunity to show the Leeds boss that he deserves to be in the reckoning for the first-team.

Here’s Football Weeks Leeds starting XI with Jay-Roy Grot leading the attack that will shake Burnley and progress past the Premier League giants on Tuesday.
