Arsenal’s and Germany international Mesut Ozil is ready to leave the Emirates club on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer to reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, according to report coming from Germany.
Ozil, who was part of the Germany squad that won the 2014 World Cup is in the final 12 months of his contract with the North London side and his long-term future with the Gunners remains uncertain after months of unsuccessful contraction negotiations between him and the club.
Arsenal are preparing to lose Sanchez on a free transfer at the end of the season after the Chilean snubbed all the Gunner reproach of new contract offers in 2017. Arsenal surprisingly rejected bids from Manchester City over the summer. But Wenger according to reports, believes the Chilean will snub whoever comes knocking and stay at Arsenal next summer.
Now Arsenal could be set to lose his team-mate – Ozil – next summer too as The Sun citing report from German outlet Bild claim that the Germany playmaker has made a decision to leave Emirates next summer when his contract expires.
The ex-Werder Bremen player has been offered a new eye-watering £8.1 million-per-season deal but has not agree on the deal.
According to the German outlet, Ozil wants to join up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford next summer for whom he played under at Real Madrid for three years.
There is no concrete evidence that suggests the Red Devils are interested in signing the Arsenal playmaker but Mourinho would surely not think twice about signing the playmaker if given the opportunity to do so for free.
Should the German not sign a new contract between now and the New Year he will be free to discuss contract opportunities as early as January for a free transfer move to go ahead during the 2018 World Cup.
However, Ozil will not be given guarantee a first-team football at Old Trafford given the former of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to start the 2017-18 campaign. The former Borussia Dortmund playmaker has amassed five assists in the first four Premier League games this season in the number 10 role. Juan Mata and Paul Pogba are backup options in his position.
We all have to wait and see how things line up over the coming months but if this report is accurate, the Red Devils have another opportunity to raid the Gunners after previously signing Robin van Persie from the Gunners back in 2012.
