Wayne Rooney’s legendary career looks to be in its late stages, and the reign of Michael Owen and Alan Shearer over, but a man has emerged who has all it takes to make history just like those top England strikers.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, for the last two years has been a revelation and at just 23-years of age, he is just at his starting point.

The 2014-15 Premier League season saw Kane shoot to the limelight, after enduring loan spells at Leyton Orient in 2011, Millwall in 2012, Norwich in 2012-13 and Leicester City in 2013.

Harry Kane ended the 2014-15 season as the second top goalscorer behind Sergio Aguero with 21 goals. Question began to rise as to whether Kane’s shine would last beyond a season, but those questions were soon answered.

Despite having a non-memorable start to the 2014-16 season, Kane was the Premier League top goalscorer after picking up 25 goals. This season he has gone beyond his past record, cementing his place as the best forward in the English top tier.

Kane hit over 20 goals for the third season in a row. Despite going on an injury enforced leave for a month in March, the Englishman ended the season as the highest goalscorer, with 22 goals.

In the transfer market, a price tag of £50million plus could easily be attached to Harry Kane, after propelling Spurs to back-to-back top four finishes in the league.

With the English clubs having more preference for players oversea than homegrown players, it is interesting to see him rise through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and become such huge success.

Popularly called ‘one of our own’ by Spurs fans every week, Kane should be an example for other top clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Tottenham’s academy is one of the best in the country as it has been witnessed not just with Kane, but also with Josh Onomah and Harry Winks more recently too.

Manchester United have also had one of their academy product, Marcus Rashford, shoot to limelight. Kane and Rashford are without a grain of doubt, two of the most interesting players in England. It goes to prove that England is an Island of football talent.

Nowadays, players loaned out of their club often end up sliding into obscurity, but Kane has proved to be an exception.

Tammy Abraham of Chelsea is an identical example. He has been outstanding for Bristol City in the Championship and it would be amazing to see the 19-year-old return and get time at a club like Chelsea.

Talents from oversea are without a doubt world class, but Kane’s growth, which has come in spades has a pleasurable sight and it would do the other clubs a whole lot of good to tread in Tottenham’s footsteps.
