Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is backing Premier League leaders Chelsea to win the EPL title at the end of the season.

He made his prediction by predicting the Blues to win the EPL title despite their setback against Crystal Palace last weekend.

The Stamford Bridges outfit lost 2-1 to Sam Allardyce’s side at home on Saturday afternoon after Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke overturned Blues playmaker Cesc Fabregas’s opening goal.

The Blues were unable to return a second-half equalizer in west London as Antonio Conte’s succumbed to their second loss in 23 games in the Premier League.

The don’t have long to dwell on the results ahead of the visit of fourth-placed and strong Manchester City side in their top-flight clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Antonio Conte’s side are seven points ahead of their closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the ranking table and a further four points clear of City’s side.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about the threat the Spurs pose to the Blues in the title race with nine games to go, the former Liverpool defender backed Chelsea to respond and to go on to win the title.

“All Tottenham can do is put the pressure [on Chelsea]. Looking at Chelsea, with the manager and players that they have, you feel that they will answer those questions.”

However, he admitted that he is hoping Mauricio Pochettino’s side can put pressure on them to keep the title race alive with nine games to go.

“But it’s good they are being asked questions because for the last six weeks you felt no one is really chipping away at that lead,” Carragher added.

“If Tottenham can keep going, it looks like they will be the ones after Sunday, and hopefully we’ll have a title race.”

Chelsea won the Premier League title in the 2014-15 season.
