Manchester United were one of the busiest sides in the world last summer. Their new manager Jose Mourinho, break bank and transfer records in boosting the squad in attempt to get them back to balance in competing with the best this season. However, the Portuguese has also had to let some players face the exit door at Old Trafford recently, who have turned into world class players in due time. The Red Devils have sold some of the biggest name in world football and it seems like Mourinho will surely make amends for his side error of selling such players. The question now is, who has they missed the most? Here are two players from the recent past in their ranks who will believed Manchester United should not have allowed to leave their ranks.

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez (Bayer Leverkusen)

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez

Popularly known as Chicharito, the Mexican international was in his best form of life and a beast in front of goal during his tenure at Old Trafford, but finds it difficult to register a place in the starting XI regularly. Hence, he was shipped out in 2014. Chicharito spent a year on loan with Real Madrid before sealing a £8m permanent move to German side Bayer Leverkusen on the deadline day of 2015 summer window. Since then, the Mexican has been performing well in the Bundesliga and has bagged 12 goals and registered 3 assists in just 30 games in all competitions this season.

The Red Devils are currently looking for a top class goal-poacher who can operate as second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season and Chicharito could have been the perfect man. The 28-year-old was shipped out of Old Trafford for a token fee and Jose Mourinho will know that it was a huge mistake from the Red Devils to have let go of such prospect.

Angel di Maria (PSG)

Angel Di Maria

The former Real Madrid winger is tipped as one of the most exciting players in Europe and he made a £59.7million move Bernabeu to Old Trafford back in 2014. However, Di Maria was not able to settle at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal and was shipped out from the club just a season later to seal a deal to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported fee of £44.3m in the summer of 2015.

With PSG, the Argentine has scored 9 goals and created 10 assists in all competitions this season and has been more productive than most of United’s players this campaign. The Portuguese manager had recently said that he would never have allowed Di Maria to have leave the Old Trafford had it been he was in-charge then. The 29-year-old would remain one of United’s biggest transfer mistakes. Jose Mourinho is now looking to attacking quality to his side and he would have been happy to have Di Maria around.
