Arsenal legend Robert Pires has backed that France international and Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann would benefit more moving to Arsenal than in Manchester United.
The reigning UEFA Euro Adidas Golden Boot winner has been subject of transfer speculation to Old Trafford in the summer as United’s boss Jose Mourinho is keen on reshaping his side for next campaign’s title challenge. The former Gunners midfielder suggested though, that Griezmann transfer to Old Trafford doesn’t seem right and that he may benefit more with a move to the Emirates.

As claimed by the Metro, via Goal, the Ex-Arsenal midfielder said: “I think it is just speculation for now that Griezmann is joining Manchester United, just rumours. Why could we not see him at Arsenal?”
The 43-year-old, who now coaches at Arsenal, also suggested his compatriot while are Arsenal would further improve the quality of his performance in London, due to the calibre of manager and players that the North London club possess.
He went on saying: “I think he has a good profile for Arsenal. I think he can learn a lot from (Arsene) Wenger, with (Mesut) Ozil, Alexis (Sanchez), (Santi) Cazorla. Fingers crossed.
“You have to buy good players for the fans and you have to spend a lot of money. This is the new football.”

The 25-year-old’s potential move to United has been hype in recent months. Per reports, Griezmann brother via Twitter has teased several United fans with series of tweets showing his love for Manchester United, hinting his brother may chose to move there. The Rojiblancos forward friendship with United’s and his compatriot Paul Pogba is also thought to be an influencing fact, should the potential deal finally come to fruition.
The Atletico No. 7 has refute claims regarding his future out of Vicente Calderón Stadium this season, but for any move away from the Spanish club to become possible, suitors will have to met their £86m buyout clause. So far this season, the French forward has 18 goals in 36 appearances.
