Moussa Sissoko has had poor form this season and the few appearance he has had haven’t helped. He was given a ban of three games after he elbowed Harry Arter in a game against Bournemouth and since then he has been benched, but now with Lamela unfit, he now has opportunity to prove himself worthy.
It’s been on the grapevine for some time now that AC Milan are looking to sign the midfielder. He moved to Tottenham from Newcastle on a five year deal for £30m in the summer and Spurs would be expected to cough the fund up while sending him off.
Pochettino has mostly played provisional attack this term with Harry Kane being the only fixed player in the centre-forward position. If Sissiko leaves, Pochettino would need to bring in a replacement and here we bring you 3 options that could be considered.
Christian Pulisic
The Borussia Dortmund player has been compared to the likes of Aaron Lennon and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He has ability to dribble at high speeds and his adept weak foot skills allow him to play on either side of the field. The American could give a boost to Spurs title race but his little stature might be a draw-back.
Yacine Brahimi
Brahimi has been remarkable for his action for FC Porto this season, especially in their Champions League campaign. He has been described as technically gifted player. The Algerian is known for his great dribbling abilities and ability to take on players. He has scored three goals in nine appearances and his style of play is similar to that of Sissoko.
Alex Pritchard
Pritchard might be low on consideration list but he could be most fitting for the position. Lamela’s return from injury would see Sissoko drop further down the pecking order. The 23-year-old moved to Football League Championship side Norwich City on a four-year deal. His flawless passes and measured long shots have been an eye-catcher and he just might prove worthwhile.
