Antoine Griezmann has revealed a move to the Premier League would be his preferred destination should he consider his future away with Atletico’s Madrid.
The Frenchman has admits he is happy at the Vicente Calderon and won’t force a move but be caught between two stools it appears his thirst for silverware may lead to an urgent exit.
With reigning European champions Real Madrid off the menu in the chase of the star forward and Barcelona currently deploying the best front-three in the world of football, it mean England would undeniably be his new home.
He said in his interview with Telefoot, “I would prefer to stay in La Liga or go to the Premier League,” he said in an interview with TF1’s Telefoot in his homeland.”
However, he your opinion, which destination would most suit the Atletico star?
Chelsea
The Blues are just one of the top Premier League sides who have been linked with a move for the Frenchman in recent transfer windows. The forward could be a replacement or a perfect additions for Diego Costa who, despite his good form, may want a return to Spain. Or, Costa could move wide and replace Pedro on the right of a front three.
It remains to be seen if the Blues can afford the player but currently it seems likely to happen than it did in the last summer.
Manchester United
Currently, Jose Mourinho’s side is still said to be the plausible destination for the French No. 7 superstar. Griezmann has already revealed he speaks regularly with the Red Devils World record transfer and Paul Pogba about the ‘huge club with a really good infrastructure’.
The star forward had recently also admitted that he also wants to play alongside his compatriot at Old Trafford.
It’s possible Jose Mourinho could sanction the move for the French forward as the club present skipper Zlatan Ibrahimovic is slowly phased out, and he could create an impressively dynamic frontline, including Marcus Rashford and fellow Frenchman Anthony Martial and with this, it would guarantee the Red Devils a spot in the Champions League qualification.
Arsenal
The North London side, with his compatriot in charge Arsene Wenger who had been a longtime admirer of the star had also been linked with a move to the club.
The duo reportedly spoke in the summer, with the forward insisting he was happy in Spain, but Wenger’s interest remains. With the Gunners fully loaded in the midfield with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, and Granit Xhaka awesome passes and crossing, Griezmann would well flourish at the Emirates and as the successor to compatriot Olivier Giroud.
The thought of him combining with Chilean star Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates is a tantalising prospect.
Manchester City
As Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho develops at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola frontline looks a little weak once Sergio Aguero is out of the side. Landing Griezmannn in January would give them a huge boost in attack, and they should be able to afford the 70m pounds price tag.
Whether combining the French star with Aguero, alongside him, or as a wide forward, he could be a huge success and may relish working under the Spanish manager, too.
