The 2020/21 European football season only came to a full conclusion on Saturday night, as Chelsea stunned Manchester City to lift their second Champions League title at Porto’s Estádio do Dragão.

However, there have already been several high-profile moves, namely those of Eric García and Sergio Agüero, who both joined Barcelona for free upon the end of their respective contracts at Man City, while Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay are set to follow suit — according to the Betting Exchange.

Although, whilst those aforementioned players all seem to have their futures wrapped up, where AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose contract at the San Siro is running thin, will end up is looking a little foggier.

The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the best young shot-stoppers in the world and that would usually warrant a hefty fee. However, with Donnarumma being available on a free transfer, plenty of clubs will be sniffing around and his options will be endless.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at four of the clubs reportedly interested in Donnarumma’s signature. Read on to find out more!

Roma

Staying in his homeland of Italy in what is still the very early stages of his career could be a good option for Donnarumma, and it’s believed that AS Roma have been knocking on the door. There are reports that new Roma boss José Mourinho is very keen on signing the 22-year-old and has even called Donnarumma to discuss his future. However, it would take something special for a side like Roma to win the race considering they finished outside the Serie A European football spots last season.

Barcelona

According to Sky Sports Italia, Barcelona are currently leading the way in the race to sign Donnarumma. As already mentioned, Barça are scooping up European football’s best free agents and if they can add Donnarumma to their ranks alongside the likes of Wijnaldum, Depay and Agüero, suddenly they could be a force to be reckoned with again. It’s public knowledge that the Catalan side are cash strapped, but they are doing an amazing job rebuilding the side without any transfer fees and Donnarumma would be another great addition.

Paris Saint-Germain

After defeat to Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain’s quest for their maiden European Cup goes on. There’s no doubt that they will continue to venture deep into the Champions League for years to come and with their No.1 goalie Keylor Navas now 34 years of age, Donnarumma could be the key to their success. Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy proved just how important a goalkeeper can be in winning the European Cup and PSG should take note and ensure they land Donnarumma.

Chelsea

Even with the heroics of Mendy this season, Chelsea have been continuously linked with the Milan shot-stopper. It’s no secret that the west London side have been trying to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga for some seasons now and if they are confident that the Spaniard will finally leave Stamford Bridge this summer then the arrival of Donnarumma is a realistic option. Tuchel made it clear he wants to add two or three more players to his ranks and more strength between the sticks is never a bad thing.
