Liverpool have been overcome in the Premier League title race by Chelsea and Arsenal at the moment, thanks to some woeful results in their last two games
The Reds were leading the league standings and had only been defeated once until the 4-3 loss at Bournemouth which was followed by the frustrating 2-2 draw with West Ham at Anfield, thanks to defensive errors from Joel Matip and Loris Karius.
They have now slipped to third on the table and six points off leader Chelsea, taken just five points from their last four matches and it has affected the confidence level. They may now have to play catch up with Chelsea and Arsenal soaring presently.
Their next match is away to Middlesbrough on December 14, where they have not won in 14 years, before the Merseyside derby at Goodison park. Home matches against Man City and Stoke will round off their year.
Jurgen Klopp also admitted that the team has focused more on the attack at the expense of the defence and it is important the two areas are balanced.
The absence of Philippe Coutinho due to injury doesn’t seem to have really affected them in the final third as they have scored up to 10 goals since he last featured for them. They have been lethal in front of goals with 37 league goals but their defence has been betraying them, conceding 20 goals in 15 games already, the highest in the top five.
A repeat of the 2013/2014 scenario easily comes to mind.
