The Gunners have had a bright start to this season and are currently sitting second on the league standings, three points behind leaders Chelsea. Their emphatic 5-1 win over West Ham on Saturday stretched their unbeaten run in the league to 13 games.
Arsene Wenger is fully aware that he has to keep a fit squad if his team is to remain competitive in the title race. Injuries to key players and loss of form has always made lose ground in the title race in the past season. And to such occurrence this season, Wenger is looking toward filling up voids created by injured players, especially those that will spend more than a month on the sidelines.
Key midfielder Santi Cazorla has been ruled out for at least two months, and with Jack Wilshere out on loan to Bournemouth, Aaron Ramsey yet to be back to his best and Granit Xhaka yet to adapt to the demands of the Premier League, Wenger has been reportedly linked with a move for Cesc Fabregas.
The 29-year-old was at Arsenal for 8 years between 2003 and 2011 before returning to Barcelona. Wenger made an attempt to re-sign him in 2014 but he to move to their rival Chelsea instead.
