Manchester City closing in on £60m deal for 27-year-old

According to The S*n, Manchester City are closing in on a £60m deal with Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez. The 27-year-old was previously valued at around £90m, but the Foxes have accepted a lower bid which could see Mahrez move to the Etihad in the coming weeks.

It’s good news for manager Pep Guardiola who tried to sign the Algerian international in January, having three bids rejected by Leicester, as the Sky Blues are building a side to defend their Premier League and go deeper in the Champions League.

It’s a blow for Leicester, however, as Mahrez has been one of their best players in recent, still performing well despite so much uncertainty over his long-term future. The 27-year-old made it clear on numerous occasions that he wanted out of the King Power Stadium, but it didn’t affect his performances.

Mahrez joined Leicester from French side Le Havre in 2014 and has gone on to score and create 86 goals in 179 games in all competitions, winning the Premier League for his troubles. He impressed last season too, contributing 26 goals in 41 games across the board and could now join Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva in a star-studded Man City attack.
