Rodgers delivers latest Celtic injury update ahead of Dundee clash

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed a major double boost ahead of his side going into their game against Dundee at Parkhead on Wednesday night with Patrick Roberts and Marvin Compper likely to return from injury.

The 21-years-old Roberts has been out of action since November with a serious thigh injury while 32-year-old Compper is yet to make a single appearance in the green and white shirt since his £1million move from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window.

However, that could all change in the upcoming match as the boss told journalist on Monday afternoon that the pair could feature in the club’s upcoming Scottish Premiership fixture against Dundee.

Rodgers said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account in his pre-match conference:

“Patrick should be available for the squad. The idea was to work him back to the squad for the Dundee game. We’ll assess Marvin Compper too so there’s a possibility that he could be involved as well.”

Roberts has been one of the best players for the club in the past few seasons during an extended loan period from Manchester City.

He has made just 12 appearances across all competitions this season though due to injury, so having him return to action for the final few months of the season will be huge to the club’s hopes of winning a second domestic treble in a row.

Compper was signed by the club from Budesliga side RB Leipzig in January amid worries over the club’s defensive strenghth.

However, the one-time Germany international’s history with injury problems haunted him almost as soon as he arrived in Glasgow with a calf problem keeping him sidelined.
