Journalist suggest Rodgers should leave Celtic Park end of the season

talkSPORT football journalist and broadcaster Adrian Durham believes Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers should leave the club at the end of the season as he won’t be able improve the side in his third season.

Durham shared that he thought the Hoops boss, who is in his second stint with the club, wouldn’t be able to do better what he has already done so he might as well consider leave the club.

The journalist said as quoted via The Scottish Sun:

“The problem with the third year is that he’s not really going to do anything that he’s not done before.

“He’s been unbeaten and I can’t see them going any further in Europe, so all he has to focus on is whether they can improve and do better, I can’t see that.”

The talkSPORT journalist also revealed that he thought arch-rivals Rangers who are now getting their “house in order” – thanks to the brilliant works of Graeme Murty – are favourite to challenge for the title next.

He said:

“I think he has to get out before Rangers overtake them.”

“He has to think I don’t want this to be on my watch, I don’t want Rangers to catch up with Celtic on my watch, I don’t want that on my CV’.

“And I think there’s a real possibility of that next season.”

Football Weeks’ view

The talkSPORT pundit is totally wrong and I do think his thoughts on Rodgers bringing down the curtains doesn’t make any sense. While it’s true that Rangers are capable of winning the Scottish Premier League next season at Celtic’s expense, Rodgers should be well prepared for the challenge. Any manager worth his while should always be hungry and ready for competition and re-emergence of Rangers would ensure that Rodgers’ would have to get the best out of his Celtic side to continue consistently winning the league. Therefore while Durham may be suggesting that Rodgers’ cash in on his past achievements at the Hoops in order to secure himself a job at a top club, he’s completely wrong to do so.
