Good news for Rodgers, as key player “delivers positive injury update”

Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers has been handed a good news as first-choice between the sticks Craig Gordon is closing in on a return to action following a lengthy period on the sidelines, according to the Video Celts website.

The Scotland goalkeeper has not played for the since late January, when he had to be replaced during the Scottish Premiership game against Hibernian.

He suffered a knee injury after he collide with Efe Andrews and was at the time ruled out until around April due to it’s severity.

However, the 35-year-old appears to have made speedy recovery than expected progress in his recovery and is already back in training.

The goalkeeper posted a picture of his boost and gloves on his Instagram profile which reads:

“It’s been a while…loved having these back on today.”

Nevertheless, Gordon is still unlikely to make a return to the first-team fold as he continues his rehabilitation process which will see Dorus de Vries continue as the club’s number one in the meantime with Scott Bain – a January loan signing – providing cover for the Dutchman.

However, the report from Video Celtic claim Gordon could be fit in time for Celtic when they take on Rangers on April 15 for their Scottish FA Cup semi-final.

Staffs and supporters will be pleased with the positive injury from Gordon with an eye of him getting back onto the field of play. Having registered 199 appearances for Celtic, he has become an integral part of the Celtic’s strong side.

He helped the club win three league titles, three League Cups and the Scottish FA Cup.

Celtic have only lost twice since losing their experienced number one, when they were beaten 1-0 by Kilmarnock in the league and 3-0 by Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League.

While their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership appears insurmountable, having Gordon back for the closing stages of the season would be a huge boost for Rodgers’ side as they chase another domestic treble.
