Football Weeks Premier League team of the weekend

On a weekend which saw victories for Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Swansea, Football Weeks has pick the team of the weekend from the latest Premier League action.

GK: Tom Heaton (Burnley)

The Burnley man between the sticks was in brilliant form in their draw 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur – making top-class saves to keep out the likes of Harry Kane. Were it not for the heroics of Heaton – the match could end favouring Mauricio Pochettino’s men.[spacer height=”20px”]

DEF: Joe Gomez (Liverpool)

Created a fantastic cross in for Roberto Firmino’s opener and hardly took a wrong foot other than a yellow card. Keeping a clean sheet, an assist and a 4-0 win will leave the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp delighted with the youngster.

DEF: Ciaran Clark (Newcastle United)

Made a crucial clearance on the line and then came up with the all-important second goal which nailed the game for the Toons. His performances without any doubt have caught the eye of Martin O’Neill ahead of the international break.

DEF: Harry Maguire (Leicester City)

Harry Maguire

Although Leicester City lost out to Manchester United, Harry Maguire was in brilliant form. He kept the Red Devils’ Romelu Lukaku quiet for most of the day as well as making crucial blocks and interceptions to keep the deficit to a minimum.

MID: Robbie Brady (Burnley)

Brady was brilliant going forward against the Spurs, testing Hugo Lloris on more than once occasion. The Irishman was instrumental in securing a point – providing the assist for Chris Wood’s late equalizer.

MID: Paul Pogba (Manchester United)

The former Juventus man has got off to a flier this season. Dictated the play and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet at Old Trafford. Pogba looks much improved from last season and will be key going forward for Jose Mourinho’s side.

MID: Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Coming back from suspension in style, the former Arsenal man scored the opener in the Blues’ win over Everton. His vision and composure are priceless asset to Chelsea. Fabregas has helped fill the void left by the absence of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

MID: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Arguable Kloop’s signing of the summer so far. A goal and an assist versus Arsenal showcased his never-ending ability. With his incredible runs and movement, Salah gives the Reds another dimension on the counter-attack.

FW: Alvaro Morata (Chelsea)

Life in the Premier League has started brilliantly for the Spanish international. A goal and assist this weekend will do no harm in convincing the Blues fans he is the man to lead the line for the next few seasons.

FW: Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

The most-in-form player in the Premier League at the moment, Mane was simply electrifying at times. His goal revealed what the Senegalese man is all about: taking on defenders and scoring goals for fun.

FW: Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City)

A live wire who had Bournemouth defenders on their toes all day. He took his goal well and was a thorn in the side of the opposition. Justified his manager’s decision to include him instead of Sergio Aguero.
