Fans react harshly to rumours linking Rangers with David Cotterill

Rangers have reportedly lined up move for Wales international David Cotterill to replace in-demand attacker Josh Windass – fans on Twitter have insisted the Welshman best days are behind him.

Football Week sources understand that the Scottish giants have identified Cotterill as a January signing if they decide to cash in on Windass, 23, who has been the subject of keen interest from top English sides.

It is said that the Gers have expressed an interest in signing the Cardiff-born winger, who is a free agent after leaving Birmingham City last month, but there is also interest from Championship club Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Ipswich and Queens Park Rangers.

With speculation intensifying over Windass’ future at Ibrox, the 30-year-old could emerge as a replacement before the end of the transfer window this month.

It is said that Rangers have already rejected bids from Sheffied United, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic for the player during this month’s transfer window, and are tipped to submit a new offer for the player.

Rangers fans and other suitors are not convinced by wide man, who has registered 452 appearances in his career and won 24 caps for Wales.

Cotterill has not played since last November and has played just eight games in total this season and fans have cited his age – 30-years – as reasons Rangers should avoid him.

Football Weeks has rounded up some of the best tweets from Rangers fans:

Rangers will be back in action when they take on Atletico Mineiro in Florida Cup clash on Friday and will be looking to seal a winning against the Brazilian side.
