Everton vs Manchester City – Time for Marcos Silva to unleash his secret weapon?

Everton will seek to redeem their image when they face Manchester City at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

Marco Silva’s men were defeated 3-1 at Goodison Park by Wolves on Saturday which dents their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Europa League competition.

The Toffees currently occupy the ninth position in the Premier League table, five points behind Wolves who are in the final Europa League’s qualifying spot.

Wednesday’s encounter against in-form Manchester City is a must-win affair for Marcos Silva and his men in order to be actively involved in the race for a place in European competition next season.

Guardiola’s side were unmatchable for the Gunners last weekend as they thrashed Unai Emery’s men 3-1 at the Etihad stadium.

Their current form isn’t really impressive though, but defeating the Premier League title holders will be a huge task for the former Watford manager, whose team have recorded just two wins and four defeats in their last six Premier League matches.

‘Hard but possible’ — that’s the simplest (best) way to explain the mission ahead of Marcos Silva on Wednesday and if he must pick maximum points in front of his fans, he needs to unleash Ademola Lookman (his secret weapon) from the start of the game.

The former Charlton Athletic youngster cost the Merseyside club only £11m in 2017 but his attacking instincts and his pace is far more than the price tag.

Surprisingly, Everton have failed to explore the player’s potentials, instead, they prefer to have him on the bench than seeing him wreck havoc in opponent’s half.

He has featured mostly from the bench this season while his obvious game-changing attributes continue to be underused by the club.

The 21-year-old winger has all it takes to outrun City’s defender Kyle Walker at the flanks and his crosses will be needed by the Toffees strikers, especially Siggurdson who is tall and good in the air.

His abilities to cut-in from the either flank is equally a trait that will make him very dangerous for the Cityzens’ defensive unit which have has been leaky since the start of the campaign.

With City’s fragile defence, Everton stand a chance to pull up a surprise result on Wednesday but that’s if Silva could swallow his pride and give the youngster the freedom to start and play his attacking football.
