David Henen reveals he is staying at Everton after negotiations

David Henen has revealed that he will remain at Everton for the foreseeable future as the striker believes he has unfinished business at Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the Merseyside club and currently sits way down the pecking order behind Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez and even Oumar Niasse after the latter remained at the club after deadline day.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, the Belgian international revealed that he and the club had held extensive talks with the club before he stated that he believes it is the “right decision” for him to remain.

Henen has made 40 Premier League 2 appearances for the club after joining from Greek giants Olympiacos, scoring seven goals and adding five assists in that time

A five-time Belgium Under-19 international, the forward is yet to feature for Ronald Koeman’s first team after he joined the Toffees back in August 2014, but is a constant fixture of the club’s second string.

Now, in the final year of his contract with the Merseyside, he will be looking to register a place in the first team and prove the Toffees and the club’s fans that he is worth a new deal.

Having proved himself in Premier League 2, David Henen has plenty of quality, whether it be on the flanks or as a centre-forward as well as an eye for goal and the ability to unlock stiff defence.

With Ronald Koeman’s side lacking in a centre-forward following the loss of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and the heel injury on Sandro Ramirez, the Belgian under-19 man could be handed his first-team debut and chance to shine for Everton in the near future. Everton are competing on four fronts and that could increase the chances of seeing Henen lead the line in the blue of the club this season.
