Chelsea v Tottenham: The four serious decisions Sarri has to make ahead his make-or-break tie

Chelsea manager is now winless in his last four games against Premier League clubs, hence, he will head into Tottenham’s game with so many questions in his head.

Having defeated by Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, Maurizio Sarri continues his quest for first silverware since becoming manager 29 years ago.

On the 24th of November last year, Tottenham ended the Blues 12-game unbeaten run, therefore, one of the questions in Sarri’s head prior to Wednesday’s game will be : “should i prepare my team for a revenge mission or should they play with mindset of qualifying for next season’s Champions League competition? “

In yesterday’s clash with Manchester City, there was a “big misunderstanding” — as said by Sarri in his post-match conference — between the former Napoli manager and his first-choice goaltender Kepa Arrizabalaga in the latter stages of the match.

The former Athletic Bilbao star failed to leave the pitch for Willy Caballero, despite Sarri’s decision to pull him out of action prior to penalty shootout.

After the disgraceful attitude from the young Spaniard, another question that must be answered by the 60-year-old ASAP Is : “should Kepa remain my undisputed NO 1? ” and “Is Caballero up to the task of being my regular starter?”

With the recent string of unexpected and unimpressive results, which have seen his side dropped from 4th to sixth position, the former Napoli manager can’t boast of 100% percent support from his players and fans.

However, another question that will be ringing in Sarri’s mind ahead of the highly-anticipated game at Stamford Bridge will be – “Are my players ready to give their all for me against Tottenham?”

Hudson-Odoi’s future at Stamford Bridge was a major talking point throughout the summer transfer market as Bayern Munich were very determined to lure him to Allianz Arena.

Chelsea somehow prevented the player from leaving Stamford Bridge but he has seen little game-time since then.

Considering his recent wonderful goalscoring feat, many fans tipped the youngster to start Wednesday’s clash. As for Sarri, the question will be – “Should I start Hudson-Odoi ahead of experienced Willian or Pedro ?”

Some of these questions can’t be answered until the end of the game, while some must be answered by the former Napoli manager as soon as possible if he must overcome his London rivals.

One thing that is certain and clear to everyone is the fact that Tottenham’s game is a make-or-break affair for Sarri. Anything short of victory could spell doom for him.
