Pots 2, 3 and 4 contain the remaining teams, seeded on their club coefficiant ratings. Manchester City and Manchester United are guaranteed to be in pot 2.

Tottenham are in pot 3, as their co-efficient ranking is lower than Europa League winners United.

Antonio Conte’s side could face Barceona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund or FC Porto.

Roma, RB Leipzig, Basel, Feyenoord and Anderlecht are to be considered possibilities.

Who could Manchester United play in the Champions League?

The Red Devils could be drawn with cup holders Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco or Spartak Moscow.

There are also chances of Jose Mourinho’s side welcoming Roma, RB Leipzig, Basel, Feyenoord and Anderlecht to Old Trafford.

Who could Manchester City play in the Champions League?

Like their rivals United, Man City are in pot two and face the prospect of playing the same teams.

Liverpool need to win their Play-off fixture in order to book their place in the group stages.

A total of 20 teams play in the play-off round but because the Reds are seeded for the draw, it would mean they will play a weaker opposition.

They could currently play: Steaua Bucharest, Young Boys or Nice.
