Celtic fans react to Marvin Compper performance v Morton

Celtic handed his Marvin Compper his first debut for the club in the Scottish Cup against Greenock Morton on Saturday and the player’s inclusion in the side was met with disappointment after his performance for the club.

It was a goalless opening 45 minutes against the Scottish Championship side as Celtic struggled to main any kind of pressure on their rivals and played within themselves.

Moussa Dembele brought the game to light in the second half with a brace to send the Bhoys into the next round of the competition.

The former Germany international only signed a two-year deal for the Hoops back at the start of the January transfer window from RB Leipzig, but a calf injury has meant his debut for the club has been held back.

Compper only signed a two-year with the club back at the start of the January transfer window from RB Leipzig, but a calf injury has meant that the former Germany international’s debut for the club has been held back.

But with Compper’s debut now out of the way, there is now a possibility that Brendan Rodgers could use him against Rangers in their upcoming fixture in the top of the table clash.

Both sides are gunning for victory – more so than ever – but the Hoops may shy away from using the former Bundesliga player, considering it too soon in light of the player’s lack of game time.

Fans felt that his was jittery display in his first outing for the club. Here is a selection of Twitter responses following the debut:
