Celtic Beware? – Rangers handed HUGE Bruno Alves boost after torn calf injury

As the Bluenoses eye up an all-important European places for next season with upcoming Old Firm Derby clash with Celtic, Rangers fans are hoping injuries don’t hamper the progress at Ibox.

Rangers returned to their winning ways in midweek after getting over the disappointment of a loss to Hibernian at the weekend, as they downed Partick Thistle in a match that was surrounded by huge controversy. Although, that’s not the biggest concern in Glasgow right now, as injuries have taken a major toll on Sveco’s pledge for a second-place finish.

Portuguese international and Rangers star Bruno Alves has been suffering from an injury over the past couple of months, but a report according to BBC Sport claims the defender has now returned back to training at Murray Park.

Indeed, the 36-year-old has been influential in the heart of the defence for the Bluenoses, as the former Porto man continues to lead by example as one of the most experienced players within the side. A major boost that will certainly see the defensive department strengthen, with the central defender very much seen as the club’s guardian by our local residents here in the Tavern.

Alves has finally returned to training for Rangers, after recovering from a torn calf that’s kept the Portuguese off the field since the Old Firm Derby draw back in December. Indeed, the news of Alves’ recovery has come in handy for Graeme Murty, as a midweek return for Kenny Miller has seen Rangers’ options suddenly begin to strengthen at a crucial time in their season.

Alves is one of the most experienced defenders in Scottish football, and it’s a major setback for Sveco to be missing out on his services. Although, with Alves returning to training this past week, Murty will certainly be hoping for an immediate impact from Alves in a defence that struggled to keep out Hibernian last weekend.
