Arsenal dealt transfer blow: €5m loan bid for Ivan Perisic rejected

Inter winger Ivan Perisic was dropped from the squad that faced Torino on Sunday, amid reports linking the Croatian star to Arsenal. But despite this, the Gunners and Inter are still far from agreeing a deal for Russian 2018 World Cup finalist.

Arsenal in the market for an attacker during the transfer window, and they have reportedly turned their attention to the Inter star, who was once a subject of interest from Manchester United on several occasions in recent years.

News of the midfielder’s omission from the team’s squad comes from Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that, amid report surrounding his future, the player has had a “troubled week” and is not mentally fit and prepared for the clash against Torino.

Arsenal are keen on signing the 29-year-old to the Emirates Stadium on loan, but the Serie A giants are only looking at offers which will be for the permanent sale of the midfielder.

News about the North London club bid for Perisic come journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who suggest the Gunners have offered to pay an initial €5m to secure the loan deal, and they also want to include the option to buy him for a further €40m.

However, this proposal was swiftly rejected by Inter officials, who want to use any funds raised from the deal to sign a replacement for Perisic, who has registered three goals and five assists in all competitions for Inter this season.

Inter have several targets in mind to replace Perisic. Firstly, they are negotiating with Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang to sign former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, and Inter have also offered winger Antonio Candreva to the Chinese side in an attempt to convince them to part ways with Carrasco.

The La Liga giants have several targets in mind to replace Perisic. Firstly, report claims they are negotiating with Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang to sign former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, and they have also offered to include Antonio Candreva in any deal that will Carrasco as a makeweight for the signing of the Belgium international.
