Arsenal could lose 26-year-old to West Ham, Pellegrini keen on a summer deal

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal could lose midfielder Jack Wilshere to West Ham United this summer, with new manager Manuel Pellegrini keen on signing the out-of-contract England playmaker.

The 26-year-old has yet to sign an extension with the Gunners and could leave for nothing in the coming weeks. West Ham are looking to capitalise and bring Wilshere to the London Stadium.

Pellegrini is believed to be long-time admirer of Wilshere and is looking to strengthen the side in key areas to ensure they aren’t in a relegation dogfight next season. United finished 13th in the Premier League with 42 points from 38 games last season, conceding more goals (68) than any other side.

They have individual talent, with Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini both impressing last season, but Wilshere may not be convinced the Hammers will be good for his career. If he’s to leave Arsenal, he’ll want to make sure its for the right reasons.

Wilshere rose through the youth ranks to the Arsenal first-team in 2008 and has gone on to make 198 appearances in all competitions, winning two FA Cups and one Community Shield.

He’s set to exit the Gunners as he’s rebuffed Arsenal’s attempts to tie him down to a new deal, but his next destination is unknown. West Ham are expected to be one of many clubs showing an interest.
