Reports – Celtic’s £3million-ace could be set for January exits

Celtic midfielder Eboue Kouassi could be set for an exit from the Parkhead this month, with Belgian side Standard Liege reported to be lining-up move for the 20-year-old to the Stade Maurice Dufrasne, according to Belgian outlet DH.

Since Kouassi’s £3 million move from Russian side FC Krasnodar last January, the Ivory Coast international has failed to establish himself as a vital part of Brendan Rodger’s side and has registered just nine appearances for the reigning Scottish champions, with four of those appearances coming this season.

The Ivorian, though, may be interesting in featuring in more first-team football elsewhere and the Belgian side have reportedly looked into his situation and two other as players as potential January transfer targets.

However, the Belgian’s side limited transfer budget and the likelihood of the Hoops wanting to make a profit on a player who still have three years to run on his current deal with the club means that the the 10-times Belgian domestic champions may try to sign Kouassi on a loan deal, as they look to improve on their current ninth-place league standing.

Brendan Rodgers’ side, however, have made another brilliant start to the current season and find themselves sitting comfortable at the top of the table – 51 points – with eight points ahead of nearest challengers Aberdeen (43 points).

Celtic did see their historic 69-game unbeaten streak come to an end last month when they were defeated to a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Hearts.

Having last been in action on New Year eve, the Bhoys’ next fixture is a fourth-round Scottish Cup clash at home to Championship side Brechin City and they would be looking to get back to their winning ways.
