Thomas Christiansen’s Leeds United could reported consider reigniting a fresh move for Sheffield Wednesday attacker George Hirst in the January transfer window.

According to Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief writer Phil Hay, he claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Whites were interested in a deadline day swoop for the 18-year-old sensation.

Has move for him failed to materalise on deadline day, Football Weeks understands that the Yorkshire outfits could turn their attention back to him when the transfer windows re-opens in January.

He is an upcoming talent at Hillsborough that is being tipped for a bright future and the Mirror have reported that Premier League giants Leicester City made a £2million bid for him in the summer.

Is signing George Hirst a good move for Leeds?

George Hirst is a major English talent that is already making a name for himself and the striker has represented his nation up to the Under-20 age level.

The powerful central forward is known to be clinical in front of goal a £2 million offer from the 2015/16 Premier League champions suggests that he has a bright future ahead of him.

He has just two senior appearances to his name and it’s still unclear whether he could make a serious impact in the Championship at his young age.

The Whites were clearly interested in signing forwards following the shipping out of Chris Wood and did welcome Jay Roy-Grot, Caleb Ekuban, Pawel Cibicki and Pierre-Michel Lasogga as new strikers at Elland Road.

That means Hirst would be unlikely to work in straight to Leeds first-team even if he moved in January, but it would certainly be a positive to have a highly-rated star with big potential at the club.

How likely is this going to happen?

Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen could reportedly try again with a move for Hirst in the January transfer window, but it appears unlikely the forward will end at Elland Road.

The 18-year-old looks set to continue his development with Wednesday for the meantime and if he was to leave his current side, the Whites could easily be blown away by the Foxes.

George Hirst is right at the stage of his career and it would be too risky for Leeds to offer £2million-plus just for potential.
