Good news for Arsenal with 27-goal forward keen on Premier League move

German journalist Raphael Honigstein says Emil Forsberg is interested in moving to the Premier League and was ‘upset’ about RB Leipzig turning down an offer from Arsenal in January, reports The S*n.

Honigstein spoke on the Totally Football Show podcast and provided insight into Arsenal’s pursuit of the winger.

He said:

“Forsberg has been in and out of the [RB Leipzig] team with injuries, and they’ve really missed him a lot.

“He is still a guy who really wants to go to the Premier League. He was very upset when Arsenal’s offer was turned down straight away by Leipzig.

“I think [Arsenal] will come back in for him because he has got a lot of talent.”

Forsbeg has been linked with a move away from Leipzig, with rumours of in-fighting with other figures at the club.

However, he denied the claims and insists he has a ‘great relationship’ with manager Ralph Hasenhüttl. Forsberg stopping short of denying he wants a Premier League move though.

He told Expressen:

“No, I have a great relationship with my coach. I understand there will be speculation when I am not playing, but I am enjoying my time at the club.

“We will continue to write history and aim at winning the Europa League.”

The 26-year-old scored and created 27 goals in the Bundesliga last season and has scored five goals and three assists this campaign.

Leipzig are keen to rebuff any interest and are trying their best to retain the Swedish international at the Red Bull Arena past this summer.

The Bundesliga club are set to lose Naby Keita to Liverpool in the summer, while defender Dayot Upamecano and forward Timo Werner have uncertain futures.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have been linked with goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi too.
