Arsenal have handed new contracts to three of their star players and none of them included those the fans have been waiting to see commit their future to the club. The club hierarchy are sweating are over the contracts of their most important players, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The two players have been given the club tough times as far as their contract issue is concerned. It is obvious Arsenal don’t want to let go but their wage demands have put the club in a tight corner with Arsene Wenger insisting that club cannot meet their demand on wage issue.
That being said, the Emirates have been able to secure Laurent Koscienly, Francis Coquelin and Olivier Giroud future at the club. Though the lengths of the contracts have not been revealed, Wenger was pleaded with decision of the trio.
The three are integral members of the Arsenal squad. Giroud has netted four times in his last four matches, including his spectacular scorpion kick against Crystal Palace during the festive period. Though he has seen his role being overtaken by Sanchez, the France international has taken every chance that has come his way, notching up important goals for the Gunners. He scored 24 goals for them last season.
Coquelin, 25, has added extra dimension to the midfield in the last two seasons while Koscielny has been a consistent performer in the Gunners defence since joining from Lorient in the summer of 2010, especially with the absence of Per Mertesacker.
Arsenal are still hoping Ozil and Sanchez as well as Wenger will resolve their contract issues. Wenger current contract expires at the end of this season.
