Celtic need to reject all bids for 20-year-old favourite this summer

Kieran Tierney - Football Weeks

Celtic’s resolve to keep their best players will be tested this summer as Manchester United have once been again been linked with Kieran Tierney.

The Daily Mail say United will send scouts to watch the defender against Rangers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday. Manager Brendan Rodgers would do well to rebuff their interest.

ESPN revealed in November that North London duo Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, as well as United, were considering a move for Tierney.

The Scottish international has made 124 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops, winning two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cups and one Scottish Cup. He’s one of the best young left-backs in Europe.

Tierney’s exit would raise suggestions that Celtic are still a selling club, where players join as a stepping stone in their career, and the defender would be irreplaceable if he did leave.

Rodgers wouldn’t be pleased to see such a talent leave Parkhead but it doesn’t appear Celtic are entertaining the idea of selling him as Tierney has five years left on his deal.

We all know money talks in football, but if Celtic want to keep fans onside, they need to rebuff any interest in Tierney that comes from the Premier League or Europe this summer.
