There is a report that says Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion have made a £3million bid for Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis, according to The Sun, whilst the report also says Celtic are also keen on signing him. But would it be a smart move for Celtic in bringing the best out of the teenager attacker.
The Sun in the report claims Brighton have been monitory the youngster situation at the Villa Park over the last few months and it now appears that Chris Hughton is preparing a £3million bid to sign the youngster currently plying his trade under Steve Bruce this season.
The 19-year-old scored his third goal for Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon, as the Championship side dismally crashed out of the third round of the FA Cup as Peterborough won 3-1 and with the Seagulls progressing, that could be enough to make him think twice.
With Brighton already have the likes of Glenn Murray, Jose Izquierdo, Tomer Hemed and Sam Baldock in their ranks, Davis could be deemed surplus to requirement as he would find game time hard to come by under Hughton which could hamper his development.
The move for Davis should alert Celtic considering hijacking Brighton’s move for the player, as the Hoops have showed capabilities of luring Championship players to their side and significantly improving them.
Scott Sinclair is a proof of this. Sinclair has been impressive since his move from Villa to Celtic and Davis could repeat such a transfer. But he would take Moussa Dembele‘s impressive results for the Bhoys as an example, as the France Under-20 international continues to become one of the world’s best wonderkids.
Joining Brendan Rodgers’ side in the summer of 2016 from Fulham, Dembele has a record of 40 goals in 70 appearances for Celtic as well as registering 12 assists after he joined the club at a similar stage to what Davis is right now.
It could be a move that would suit both sides, then, especially with Scottish Leigh Griffiths future continuing to look bleak and Dembele constantly being linked with Premier League clubs, there are chances Davis could be an hit for Celtic if he does join.
