Bayern Munich are set to sign Real Madrid attacking-midfielder James Rodriguez on a permanent deal this summer, reports Marca.
James made headlines in 2014 World Cup in Brazil, earning a move to the Santiago Bernabeu off the back of netting six goals for Colombia who reached the quarter-finals.
The 26-year-old’s debut season at Real saw him score and create 26 goals in 29 La Liga games (2014/15), but he would eventually lose his place in the starting lineup in later years.
Due to no guarantees of playing time under Zinedine Zidane last summer, James opted to join Bayern on loan for two seasons. He’s contributed 14 goals in 18 Bundesliga games this campaign.
Such fine form could lead the German giants to trigger his release clause to land him permanently. Marca say the Bundesliga champions could bid £36m to procure James’ signature.
Real Madrid landed £11m for letting the Colombian international leave on loan last summer, they will save £14m in wages over the two seasons and could make £36m on top of that for his sale (£61m in total).
Reports state James has given the green light to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
